A rebate is also a method of clearing stock in anticipation of a new
model or a model that is discontinued by a manufacturer. I have never
had a problem with Tiger Direct and they pay their rebates quicker than
many manufacturers. Floor or storage space is calculated by cost per
month and if something sits and occupies space, the space is not making
money for the vendor. That is why you see sales and rebates at all
stores.
HP still owes me a rebate for a printer I bought at a local vendor 6
years back. I complied with all details and mailed it to them and they
never paid or acknowledged the receipt. Many rebates are handled by
third party contractors as was HP at the time. You know it is going to
be a long wait when the address is someone other than the seller or
manufacturer.
I don't buy HP any longer because they advertised a rebate on a new
printer and sent me a refurbished. That was after Carlie Friona.
