The NJR NJM78L05UA is readily available. The "TE1" is one of several
applicable tape/reel packaging specifiers (orientation of component in the
pocket on the reel) so is of no importance.
Onlinecomponents.com has a few thousand of the bulk parts (NJM78L05UA) in
stock and a few hundred of the NJM78L05UA-TE1 (tape/reel packaged version of
the same IC) in stock (they break reels for most components).
Future, Mouser and Digikey all have stock of various versions as well.
In addition if you see any stock available labeled NJM#78L05UA (etc), this
is also the same thing. The "#" was the temporary RoHS Compliance
designator used for ordering purposes by NJR in North America.

Subject: [ForSale-Swap] In need of a voltage regulator
I am in need of a 5 volt regulator. It is an SMD and the part number is:
NJM78L05UA TE1
This is a SOT-89 CASE
And after a Google search the only parts houses that have it say it is a
discontinued part. Any help finding this would be greatly
appreciated.
The part is for my FT-1000MP MKV and is found on the CTRL-1 board. The part
is known to go out after a few years and this one is
starting to give me a hassle.
