Here is a follow-up on the message I sent last night. This update was
directed to NFL DECS but I thought anyone in SFL who was considering
going to help would like to read it.

Please contact your EC so he can coordinate the efforts from your
county.

Here is Dales message:

Currently the need is for 46 total. There are less than 10 traveling in
so far so consider the 46 request open as there are locals cycling out
fast from fatigue. I anticipate additional request shortly. Filling
the 46 request is the primary concern at this point. We had a good
response for a weekend turnout but the week is going to be tough. Any
help you can give us on that will be appreciated. The plan is a
familiar scenario. Self sufficient, no power, lodging, 8am to 7pm
curfew in Escambia, no fuel in effected area, repeaters up in both
counties, water and food available Red Cross style but bring what you
can, no sanitary facilities guaranteed, and a need to work with the
ability to make decisions in a difficult environment.

The travel routes going in are detours and are slow going, full of
National Guard who are helpful. The Post Traumatic Stress issues are a
factor. The tempers are getting short from fatigue and heat. These
folks really need help and everyone out there knows what that's like.
That's the situation.

Thanks in advance for putting up with waiting for this information.

Subject: Request for all SFL ARES members.

We have received a request from the NFL STM to send CATs to NFL to
assist following Hurricane Ivan. Please read the information below
carefully and if you would like to help contact your EC. Do not leave
your county without coordinating with your EC. He will send an
organized response from your county and give you exact instructions on
where to go, when to go, who to contact when you get to your
destination.

All ECs were sent specific instructions about such deployments following
Hurricane Frances so I won't repeat them now.

Thanks and good luck,
