Greetings fellow Fists,

Next weekend is the annual FISTS Coast to Coast contest. It runs from 1700Z
Saturday to 1700Z Sunday. Please pop in on the bands on the normal fists
frequencies and listen for the clubs calling CQ C2C. The exchange is RST,
Name, State (or 2 character prefix if DX), and FISTS number. Invite your non
fists friends. Just substitute Power instead of fists number. eg. 100W. Only
clubs will call CQ C2C. Fists members will search and pounce only. Clubs
will not be working each other this year so all of their efforts will be in
maximizing QSO counts. Their scores are computed differently than fist
members. Remember, each club worked counts for 3 points so it's a good
opportunity to increase your point totals for various awards. We have ZL and
VK clubs participating also. I will be operating the Maltby Radio Club
callsign W7MRC. (shameless plug)
One other thing, Stan Reas suggested that 160M operation be included in the
band plan for the C2C and I wish I had thought of that myself. In any event,
since this is a more relaxed contest than most, I am inclined to change the
rules to include 160M operation. Now I know some of you will object or maybe
raise your eyebrows at this since it's so close to the event itself. But the
C2C was never intended to be a "serious" contest like the CQWW or ARRL DX.
It's an opportunity for fists members to collect points and have some fun.

Please DO submit your logs to me at fistsc2c at yahoo.com after the event. Only
stations who have submitted logs will be eligible for inclusion in the
results. It would be most helpful if you calculate your score also. The
rules for the C2C are posted on the FISTS website at
http://www.fists.org/c2c.html Logs should be in plain text and attached to
the e-mail as a formatted text file and include date, time, band, call
worked and exchage received. I will accept Excel spreadsheets also as long
as they are in a version I can read. I have Excel 2000.

Hope to work many of you next weekend

C2C manager (W7MRC in the C2C, another shameless plug)
