With transcievers that have computer controlled i.f. stages, it is
possible to "make" a filter of 50 Hz wide.  You can "zero beat" or
"net" a signal simply by getting the received signal into the passband
of that filter.  Then you will be very close!  Of course, RIT, XIT and
separate VFOs have to be off!

You can also do this with a sharp audio filter such as MFJ used to
make and several manufacturers still make.
