Hello FISTS,

Recently I've been very surprised at the number of FISTS using 14,058 kHz
(especially) as a calling frequency.

People make short calls, and then they've shifted off frequency.

Sometimes I've heard three or four calls in a minute, with the pairs of
stations moving off to a clear frequency.

I was amazed at how well it worked.

This is being discussed on www.yahoogroups.com/skcc/

Some of the people don't see how valuable it is to leave your radio parked
on a FISTS calling frequency - if you hear someone you'd like to chat with,
you go to the rig and give them a call.

One fellow who just posted lamented that he called and called on 14,058 kHz
and no one answered.

I told him that sometimes when you call too much, people ignore you.

If people have their rigs tuned to a FISTS calling frequency, all that is
needed is something like this:

CQ CQ DE N1EA N1EA K

Of course, you have to search out a frequency to move to once you've made
contact, but that's not too difficult.

Anyway, I just can't believe that no one is hearing that station who said he
is calling over and over.

Maybe conditions are poor?
