Gentlemen.
As you know, we got rid of the morse requirement over here a while back now,
which gave an instant passport to the HF bands to thousands of former
VHF-only and 'technician' types.
I'm not really aware (apart from a few teething troubles) of any
'dumbing-down' happening, as a) they are a keen bunch, b) the bands were
pretty grim to start with, and c) I don't think being quite good at morse
makes me a better man, or a more intelligent and competent radio op.
We are now in the process of reforming our licence structure. Here is the
link to the syllabus, tell me how it dovetails with the USA proposal.
