Thanks to all who kindly replied to my query about BPL.  I am now certainly
impressed with the argument that it is a distinct threat to amateurs and all
other users of the spectrum.

As far as I am personally concerned there is a glimmer of hope .  I live
right in the centre of downtown Wellington.  A few years ago the local power
lines company twigged that there was money to be made in data transmission
and installed a fibre optic network.  So it seems that they are unlikely to
go the BPL way, at least for the next few years.  Meantime let us hope that
everywhere the spectrum  management authorities and all responsible for
emergency services and the military will add their voices to the opposition
and put a stop to all tests and implementation.
