Besides, a good CW op can pop off contact after contact and rarely have to
request a re-send on the call signs. If you listen to an SSB pileup, more time
is spent repeating than working. This is due in part to an awful lot of hams
who do not know what country they are in, or what call sign area they are in.
Added to the cat calls, insults, tuner-uppers, carriers, rtty, and sound
effects, it is hard to work DX on phone. Once you develop a good technique, working
DX on CW is relatively easy, even with the largest of pile ups, and mega power
is not required to make the contact, as it often is with phone. The last few
years, however, the QRM level on CW has been getting worse, but still nothing
compared to SSB. Good luck......................Al/W8FAX 2192 EH
