The comments about old timers sloppy sending made me chuckle. It's =
exactly the same over here.
Most of the newcomers have a slightly 'nervous' hand, but are =
over-critical of themselves, and tend to scrub and repeat more than =
necessary.
A couple of older UK fists are almost unreadable, and =
tendtojamallthecharacterstogetherlikethis.
One (anonymous) notorious fist (with a callsign dating from between the =
wars) could empty the calling frequency almost instantly by simply =
calling CQ (or sometimes NNQ, KAK, KTMA or CRT). I used to dread him =
coming back to one of my CQs, but once I knew his callsign, name, QTH =
etc., I just pretended that I could read him and chatted about standard =
ham things, while praying that he didn't ask me a question.
Then he got his hands on a bug, which was even more terrifying. His =
pre-programmed CQ was in perfect morse, to trap the unwary, but god help =
anybody who answered, because he still sent text inacontinuousstream :-)
Still, it didn't make him a bad person, it's all part of the rich =
tapestry of life, and he certainly enjoyed himself.
May the morse be with you.
