I got my novice in 1958, and "hit a brick wall" at about 15 WPM in maybe
1964 - 69. Then I went QRT until 1996. When I came back I shot up to
20 WPM in four months. If there is any lesson in this, it may be that
"it will come when it comes."
My most enjoyable QSOs are generally at about 14 WPM. I guess most
folks don't have so much that's worth while to say that they have to
send at 35 WPM to get it all said. So many hams send this at 20 WPM:
R R FB ON ALL OM DAN - VY NICE CPY HR TONITE - MY RIG IS AN ICOM 747
RUNNING ABT 100 WATTS AND ANTENNA IS A 40 MTR DIPOLE UP ABT 30 FT - WELL
BK TO U NOW - K8JWR DE W1ABC AR K
when they could send this at 10 WPM and get it through faster:
R - RIG IC 747 & DIPOLE - DE K8JWR K
Dan K8JWR
