I am very happy to report that nancy has agreed to put articles about
old timers in the Keynote. I hope those who are interested in this
project will help by identifying old timers, both FISTS and non-FISTS,
who fit the mold of loving CW and having been on CW many years back
to let's say, 1950. Meet with them and get what stories we can. I am
very inexperienced at this not having any journalism experience but I
will try by first interviewing my dear old friend Macalee, AB5TY, and
sending her story to Nancy. Macalee has agreed and I will atempt to
do it by getting where she was born, where she grew up, when she first
became interested in radio, how she got her job as a telegraph operator
at age 17, and her transition to high speed CW. If anyone can help,
please come foreward. I know Ralph ZL2AOH will be doing the articles
about hams in ZL/VK in his portion of the Keynote. Send the articles
directly to Nancy if you wish, but I believe that the suggestion of
W1EOF is great and send him copies to archive for future use and
history. This is totally new water I am sailing in and I hope I didn't
bite off more than I can chew. I will try my best to get this great
idea going but need all of your help to find these old timers and get
their stories.
Many Many Thanks fellow FISTS,
