In 1991 they removed the Morse requirement for VHF/UHF-only
licensees.

"Ain't it awful what they've done to us?" was the cry.  But ham radio
went on and flourished.

Flourished ??  In our area it has indeed flourished....
for the truckers.
Our linked repeater sytems have been completely taken over
by endless chatter about mile markers and whining about
the oppressive 5 wpm code req for HF.   
VHF/UHF  has definately gone downhill as a result of deminished 
license requirements.  It's just CB now.        jim  N5KY
