Yes I agree through the years we have heard the words "Ain't it awful
what is happening to us". But when I follow some newsgroups and
discussion pages and see the extra class operators that don't know how
to build a simple dipole or do basic electronic troubleshooting, then I
gotta wonder what is happening to ham radio and how long its going to be
before we become nothing more than a glorified bunch of 11 Meter people.
I am in no way going to let this diminish the fun I am having on CW and
the great groups of technical minded people who hang out in various
segments of the CW bands. However I am not going to be a ostrich and
stick my head in the sand and hope things go away. You trace the origins
of many of these so called improvements, and you will find that usually
the people proposing these changes stand to gain big bucks from them.

I highly suggest when the FCC opens some of these changes up for
comments that members file on them online. If anyone has not been
following the power line networking Idea that has been discussed in
great detail on the QRP groups I suggest you check that one out. If this
thing comes to pass and catches on you can just about forget any ham
radio operation in populated areas. If you think the lower end of 80
meters is bad with the part 15 wireless telephone modules just wait for
this one. Check the ARRL pages for details .
