Actually that is exactly why I propose the "Training Stations" were there will
be less pressure to score points. I think that a number of potential FD
participants are turned off by the desire of others to "win" where as others are
attracted mainly by the competitive nature of FD. My proposal, although
slightly more complex, is designed to be much more inclusive.
Also in response to those that would like to up the "rigor", CW is not the way.
Instead there should be much more encouragement of new technologies especially
those that can pass large volumes of error corrected data (which can be very
important in a large disaster). But even more important is participation by as
many as possible, so lets not to discourage or demean any type of operations or
operator.
Now before you ignite your flame throwers, I am not a CW basher, in fact in
doing a statisical analysis of my log of last year 65% of my contacts were CW,
30% SSB and 5% other (RTTY, PSK31, etc.).
