I need to check my calendar more often, I completely forgot about the meeting on
Monday, but luckily Angela takes excellent notes. Here is a minutes report from
Monday's meeting courtesy of KB2AVN:
June 17th, 2013
The meeting was called to order by President Brian Patterson, KB8ELG at 7:35pm.
Field Day invites were sent out to all of the Fulton County Commissioners.
Members in distress - Bill KD8WSL's wife fell over the weekend and broke her
hip. She is in Fulton County Hospital. KB8ELG will make a courtesy call to see
if there is anything they need.
Minutes from the previous meeting were read and accepted.
Finance report was read and accepted.
Bills to present - Liability Insurance. We are now covered by Hays Companies
with an annual cost of $200.00. KB8ELG is putting together a list of the club
owned equipment to send to Hays Companies. K8LI made the motion to pay the bill.
It was then seconded by KD8MNG with all in favor.
Income for Hamfest
Door sales - 220.00
50/50 - 59.00, which was donated back to the club by Edgar (N8HB)
Food Sales - 42.30
90.00 was spent for the porta-potty, the bill has not yet been submitted to the
club for payment.
Attendance was much better than last year despite the early morning rain. KB8ELG
has been in contact with some vendors. There was some interest by them in
attending next years hamfest. The hamfest was a success. Some suggestions were
made concerning the hamfest. We need better publicity, and better parking
arrangements for vendors. We should also consider designated areas for general
parking. Informal discussion on holding a winter hamfest at the Delta American
Legion.
Chicken Festival - We have been contacted by the Chicken festival committee
about having our equipment setup at the festival again this year. They are going
to allow us to setup our tower as a demonstration. They have asked us to once
again assist with the parade on Sunday the 14th.
Repeater Committee report - Dave, KD8KDS made a comment pertaining to the
purchase of a new repeater. He stated that we had already made the motion some
time ago to purchase a new backup repeater. We were waiting on the funds to
become available from the insurance company which we have not received. Further
discussion was made to look into purchasing a good used repeater.
The new building is now equipped with air conditioning. The repeater duplexers
have been re-tuned. The amplifier at the Hospital site has been taken off line
for repair. We are running at about 22 watts of transmit power currently. KB8MDF
has donated a 150 watt amplifier and power supply for use at the hospital site.
The repeater controller has been programmed and is ready to go as soon as the
440 radios are setup for remote base. This will allow IRLP and Echolink to any
open repeater in the world through K8LI's repeater. KB8ELG is going to contact
Embarq for pricing on internet access to the hospital repeater site.
Silent Key Report - Thankfully there were no silent keys to report.
Membership Report - We currently have 51 paid members. Which we believe is the
highest number of paid members since the club was started.
Under new business, the club purchased three handhelds to be raffled off at
various events throughout the year. Each of the handhelds that the club
purchased cost around $40. KB8TYN was given one of the handhelds as payment for
the food and beverages for the hamfest. One will be given away at 5pm on
Saturday June 22nd at field day. The other handheld will be given away at the
fulton county fairgrounds. There was an anonymous donation of two FRS radios to
be given away at the Fulton County Fair as well. Tickets will be sold at the
Fair and the radios will be given away the last day of the fulton county fair.
Winner need not be present.
Field Day - Ben KD8JBS, expressed interest in working HF at field day. W8AN,
Steve Stuart may be out to work for a couple hours.
Good of Amateur Radio - Alan KC8UQU is going to build a money box for the club.
The neumatic mast trailer is not registered. KB8ELG is going look into having
the trailer weighed so that it can be registered. He will install a slow moving
vehicle sign on it for now. KB8ELG will pickup the generator from the Swanton
Fire Department.
