Hello everyone, here are some notes from the Monday night Club meeting:
The meeting was called to order at 7:40pm with 25 members in attendance. Minutes
from the previous meeting and the treasurer's report were read and accepted.
We had a great turnout at the Christmas Dinner in December, with 34 members (by
best estimate) in attendance.
Committee reports follow:
Education: We had one individual for testing at the end of December. There was
a bit of concern for the testing session as they were short one VE. Thank you to
Dave Nelson for coming in at the last minute to cover. For the year of 2013,
the VE Team is relocating to the Delta Public Library to conduct testing
sessions. The test day will still be the last Saturday of the month, although
the time is now set back to 10:15 AM. KB8ELG reports we have the Delta Public
Library reserved for a Technician Class for the last two Saturdays in February
and the first Saturday in March. Classes would be from 10:00am to 2:00pm, with
the FCARC providing all study materials. A flyer has been created and will be
posted to the website soon. We would like to have at least three in attendance,
if not more. If you know of anyone interested, please have them contact KB8ELG
at kb8elg at hotmail.com or myself at kd8kbu at arrl.net. While some concerns were
expressed over the move to the Delta Public Library, we are not abandoning the
Archbold Police Station as an alternative location, but at the same time we look
forward to the wheelchair accessibility the library offers. We also had much
discussion over a possible General License Class, although no definitive times
or dates have been announced.
Repeater Committee: The primary repeater site continues to perform well in the
new building with the new controller. There is still a "to do" list including
the courtesy tone level and the DVR integration with the scheduler. We will try
to have those items complete by the end of February. With the holidays past us,
it will be easier to coordinate schedules among the repeater crew. We are
working with Andy at George's Radio on an estimate to submit to insurance
regarding the backup site which should be completed this week.
Memorial Committee: Nothing to report.
EC Report: Nothing to report.
Membership: Memberships are reset in January, as of this evening we have 46 paid
members and lifetime members. I'll have the membership list updated on the club
website within the next few days, so if you do not see your name listed there,
check to make sure we received your membership dues and contact me direct via email.
T-Shirt Committee: Nothing to report.
Hamfest Committee: The Hamfest will be June 1st at the Tedrow Woodlot. There
are flyers available on the website (under the Hamfest section) for posting at
regional Hamfests. Lindsay (K8LI) also has us listed in the ARRL hamfest
database. As in the past, we'll be having a special VE testing session during
the Hamfest.
Club Officer Elections: No changes in the lineup this year, the current officers
all accepted their positions from last year. We look forward to serving the
club members and amateur radio in general. Your 2013 club officers are:
President -- Bryan Patterson KB8ELG
Vice President -- Craig Szczublewski KD8KBU
Treasurer -- Lu Ann Kuney KB8ELH
Secretary -- Angela Infante KB2AVN
Good of Amateur Radio:
1. We have had reports that the 8:00pm Wednesday night club net has been missed
a few weeks (reported by some scanner listeners). We encourage anyone who
notices that the Net has not started on time to pick up the Net and run it.
Running a Net encourages good operating procedures and is a fun way to
participate in the hobby. Net control scripts and directions can be found on
the website under the "Nets & Repeater" section.
2. W8TGC made a monetary donation to the club from equipment sales at the Hazel
Park Hamfest. Thanks to Doyle for the generous donation.
3. KD8KBU (myself) is considering a Saturday workshop on Digital Mode
operations. Intended as a primer to Digital Mode, specifically in HF. The
workshop would be after the Dayton Hamvention in May, so stay tuned as this
garnered a considerable amount of interest at the club meeting.
Upcoming Hamfests:
02/03/2013 Elyria, OH
02/17/2013 Livonia, MI
02/17/2013 Mansfield, OH
03/16/2013 Marshall, MI
03/17/2013 Toledo, OH
04/20/2013 Highland, MI (Milford)
05/17/2013 Dayton, OH (5/17 to 5/19)
06/01/2013 Tedrow, OH (FCARC)
Next Meeting: The next regular club meeting will be February 18th at the County
Administration Building (same as the Drivers License Bureau), 152 S. Fulton St,
Wauseon. The club meeting will be at 7:30pm.
Club Nets:
Weeknights at 10:30pm Bud's Midnight Madness Net -- 147.195+
Wed at 8pm Informal Two Meter & ARES Net -- 147.195+
Wed at 9pm 6M Net -- 50.400 AM on the first Wednesday of the month
Wed at 9pm 6M Net -- 52.525 FM Simplex
That's all I have for now. Please reply back to me with corrections as I am
quite sure I missed or misquoted something...
