Hi folks,
Field Day 2012 is 21 days out and we are are trying to get a feel
for who will be coming out to visit/operate/setup. Please reply back
to me if you are thinking of stopping out during the weekend, if you
want to operate at all, or if you want to setup a rig a run. We would
also welcome anyone who wants to assist with logging. We run a
computerized logging system and I will have a demo station setup to
show how the software works. The logging software helps us eliminate
duplicates and lets us know when someone else is working a particular
band/mode, it also allows us to submit out logs to the ARRL hours after
Field Day is over instead of days.
If you are bringing a rig, let us know what bands and modes you want
to run, if you have a laptop for running the software (I have extra
laptops I can bring), and what rig and antenna system you plan to run.
As an example, I am setting up my I-Com 706 (80m - 2m) with a 80m
dipole ladder fed with a tuner. I am intending on running mostly
digital mode operation on any available HF band, and will make my
station available if anyone wants to try their hand at running PSK31.
Last year we setup a GOTA station, which we would like to do again this
year, we just need a volunteer to run the station. Ben (KD8JBS) ran this
station last year and racked up some good points, but the purpose of
GOTA is to get newly licensed amateurs introduced to contesting,
suggestions are welcomed.
Some info from last year:

** Interesting that we had no 160 contancts, and no 2m and higher contacts
either, those are good multipliers we should try for this year
I'll try to put out routine updates on where we stand and what our rig
count will be. We ran a 7A+GOTA last year, and I suspect we will be
around the same again this year.

Craig Szczublewski - KD8KBU
