MS CHALLENGE WALK

Helping with comms for the MS Challenge Walk, you contribute to the 
search for a cure, share the visibility with the Multiple Sclerosis 
Society--and show the MS Society and the world what Amateur Radio can 
do.

According to the national Society's Web site, the MS Challenge Walk 
is being held in nine different locations throughout the nation.  The 
dates for the Nations Capital Washington, D.C. MS Challenge Walk is

    Friday 29 September
    Saturday 30 September
    Sunday 1 October

The walk begins in northern Virginia and ends on the Capitol lawn.

"The MS Challenge Walk is not just about walking," the Society's site 
continues, "it is about being part of the national movement of 
thousands of people that are doing something BIG to make a difference 
in the lives of the 400,000 [Americans who acknowledge] living with 
the devastating effects of multiple sclerosis.  By participating in 
the MS Challenge Walk, you do what thousands of people with MS cannot 
do themselves - put one foot in front of the other. " The corporate 
sponsor is Security Storage, which is also one of the big emergency 
logistics contractors in the U.S.

Radioamateurs are needed "to provide support for  communications 
between aid stations, logistics, and the supply chain" according to 
Bo Pierce N4VEC and Brian Cochran WC4J.  "We need mobile-, portable, 
bike- and APRS stations for one, two, or all three days.  For those 
staying overnight there will be hot showers, hot food, and live 
entertainment."
