The official Field Day operating hours this year are 2:00 PM on Saturday the 25th through 5:00 PM on Sunday the 26th.

Well, there are multiple parts to field day, there are some that chase the points and are very competitive about the points you get for making contacts. There are others that take the opportunity to train and educate people about Amateur Radio.

For the 2 regular stations it is always best if you have 2 people per radio. One operating and one handling the logs.

So if you think you can convince a friend or family member to come help with the log while you operate, that is great. It is also a great way to introduce someone to Amateur Radio.

> And now the GOTA station… The whole idea of a GOTA station is to let someone who is not licensed operate a radio and make contacts. This requires that a licensed control operator be present with the non licensed operator at all times. We need volunteers to help with the GOTA station but this is also a call to action for you to get your friends, neighbors and family to come operate for a while.

> Just to be clear, you do not have to be registered on this form to operate, we are just trying to see what holes we can fill. We are in need of some help late Saturday night and in the overnight hours. Calling all night owls…..

Everyone is welcome at any time, you can come just hang out and socialize (we will probably try to get you on the air at some point :) ). The most important part of field day is to have fun.

FARC does have a Facebook group at https://www.facebook.com/groups/902554613191219/ <https://www.facebook.com/groups/902554613191219/>. Be sure to join (and maybe even like). We will be posting some field day stuff out there, if you could re-post it to your Facebook timeline to get the word out, that would help out the club greatly.
