Some additional topic could include:
General Computer Usage and Maintenance.
Useful Open Source Software.
Networking Basics.

HSMM-MESH - Which I have been itching to get together and working.
Basically this is a rolling vehicle based network for multimedia
streaming
between nodes, which a lot of HAM groups use to cover events in
real-time
video and audio. On the other hand, we could form small groups of
interested folks, work out the details, and then present it.
Ahem... Rasberry Pi would be a natural for this.

Great topic ideas, Jeff!

Some additional topic ideas:

-
Operating QRP both at home and in the field
- Basic soldering skills
workshop. How about a kit-building session where we all make something like
a Tuna Tin transmitter (http://www.amqrp.org/kits/tt2/index.html)?
- Theory and operation of
simple tube radios (let us understand our roots)
- Ham uses for the
Raspberry Pi (www.raspberrypi.org), a $40 credit-card sized computer than
runs Linux
 - Amateur Television
 - Presentations about what ham
radio was like in the 30s - 50s, from some of our more experienced ham
family members
 - Antenna modeling tools for Dummies

If anyone needs
help presenting a topic, let me know. I have little knowledge, but can learn
from you and then help with the presentation.

related topic at one of our monthly meetings. We meet on the third Monday of
each month at 7 PM at the Independent Hose Company on Baughmans Ln. You
don't have to be a Ph.D. in electronic engineering or even hold an amateur
license, just have something of interest to present to our membership.
