All,

I replaced the packet at the FARG site with a D-RATS system yesterday, still on 145.75.

D-RATS is a digi program written for DSTAR and you can use the <file> function to connect to W3FDK-9 and upload and download files. Example, to leave
a message for some one, make a file using notebook, preferably, and you can call the file something such as w4ccc from w3xxx and they can then download
the file and read it. These are open files so anyone can download any file.

You can send messages using any of the several message forms in D-RATS to anyone within simplex range.

There is message forwarding using one of the several message forms in D-RATS so if you know someone is monitoring you can send the a message via w3fdk-9
if they are out of simplex range.

This is experimental and the D-RATS <file> function was not intended for this use but I wanted to try it and have a system for DSTAR users to play with D-RATS, the digi part of DSTAR
and it runs about the same speed as packet.

I have notified the writer of D-RATS what we are doing and he may be interested in expanding his program to be more like packet.

Please let me know if you have any questions, this is all new to us but myself or Kirk, KB3ONM will try and help.

Take care,

73 de rolan w3fdk
