A recent e-mail forwarded by a FredCo Ham vented rage about a mosque at "Ground Zero" in NYC. The actual proposal is to build it a few blocks away. It has been vehemently opposed by many citizens' groups in NYC. I got another, not too long ago, whining about a couple of Moslems being assigned to FEMA positions. Think about it....do you want some Christian who thinks that the world should end *A*S*A*P* to be assigned to duty in a USAF missile hole?
Visit Newport RI to get yourself a reminder of religious discrimination before our democratic republic was formed. Remember that Roger Williams was hunted by Puritan 'hit squads' but that the AmerInds protected him. Remember that nobody was allowed to leave the Massachussets Bay Colony unless they had permission from 'The Church Fathers', and that many padded cows' hooves and sneaked through the woods at night to get to Connecticut, leaving their fams and equipment behind.
It's difficult to differentiate between Moslem *terrorists* who want to ruin the entire world and Moslems who just want to get on with life. It's difficult to differentiate between our neighbors who are Jews and the 'Zionists' who scorn any kindness to Palestinians as tantamount to the destruction of Israel. It's difficult to differentiate between the administrators of Bob Jones U and Patrick Henry U, who propose to infiltrate our government with people dedicated to subverting our Consitution, and our devout Christian neighbors.
Nonetheless, it is necessary to the survival of our democratic republic that we differentiate between the whackos and our worthy neighbors. Please stop and think, when you get an idea from TV, newspapers, or Internet, if the source is just another whacko, or is it a valid source to reason from?
Let's get back to dealing with HamRadio on these media, and leave politics to appropriate WebSites.
