[FARC] NE3R-1 Packet

APRS isn't the best messaging platform, I think folks often confuse it
for such. It generally works well if you are sending a message to a
station one hop away. APRS is more of an information delivery system
which supports short messages. A good application would be something
that sends an APRS message to a call sign letting them know that they
have a packet message waiting on node XYZ on frequency 145.75. Or an
object for say, the FDK packet station that includes the hear list in
its status. If only I were a programmer with some time.

I have reasonably good luck with messages to email. I've even done
them through satellite (never got an ack that way though).

I'm pretty used to the text entry on the radio, but the D700 & D710
are a little different, which trips me up a little, since I have both.
I only send APRS messages when I'm stopped.
