[FARC] NE3R-1 Packet

Just curious Joe, does the Kenwood TM-D700 have a PBBS maildrop in its
internal TNC, or have you got some other type of external TNC working with
the TM-D700?
I have been experimenting with APRS to Internet messaging via sending
messages to EMAIL on the Kenwood TM-D710 (without a computer) and find it
very cumbersome to use and this is inside the house. Can't imagine how
someone does it while driving.
Using APRS and APRSLink to send E-mail to Winlink 2000 nodes is even more
cumbersome and works occasionally, but most of the time I don't get ACK's
from WLNK-1 and therefore can't interact with APRSLink. No ACK, no message
using APRSLink. This happens using the TM-D710 or using a computer and
APRS software. I'd put the Winlink 2000 APRSLink web site link here but it
is no longer valid.
I find it difficult to believe that in terms of Packet messaging APRS is
considered the better (more modern) method for emcomm compared with old
Packet. Something just doesn't "wash" here.
