Don't forget, the October Frederick Amateur Radio Club meeting is coming
up:

Monday, October 20th, 7:00 PM sharp at the Independent Hose Company fire
station on Baughmans Lane in Frederick.

The program topic this month is NVIS (Near Vertical Incidence Scatter)
communications.

We had a brief NVIS presentation on this last year, but it was squeezed
in at the end of a meeting, and discussion was cut short in view of the
late hour.

NVIS is not only an interesting HF propagation mode, but it's also an
important means to establish reliable local communications when
repeaters are unavailable and VHF simplex doesn't cut it. Because of
its usefulness in both emergency and hobby communications, NVIS has been
getting increased attention in the Ham community of late. Come out and
learn more about NVIS propagation. If you're already experienced with
it, your insights will be welcome!

Also, I'll have a few used but still very good 12V, 7AH gel batteries
for anyone looking for a good external or emergency power source for an
HT (or whatever). (I got these courtesy of Jim WI3N, our ARRL MDC
Section Mgr.) If there are more interested attendees than batteries,
we'll have a drawing.

See you Monday!

73, Bob K9CMR
