[FARC] Quick question

Rule of thumb about HT's in the Middletown Valley.  If you can see the 
communications towers up on the Mountain, then the HT will work fine.

Some places to try out the HT if you're familiar with the 
Middletown/Myersville area are in the Myersville Community Park and 
Middletown Park where Joe (NE3R) recommended,  up above Myersville on 
Harmony Road at Turkey Hill,  and the summit of Harp Hill Road. 
Burkittsville, south between Middletown and Brunswick on Route 17 is also a 
good area.

If you try these places and still aren't getting out then like the others 
have recommended it must be the PL tone or a low battery.   There's always 
somebody on one of the Frederick area repeaters and people are on the 
Virginia 147.300 Blue Mont repeater all day and evening so you might give 
that one a try also.

Come to the Frederick Amateur Radio Club (FARC) meeting next Monday night at 
7:00 p.m., Independent Hose Fire Company Hall on Baughman's Lane Frederick 
and you'll find lots of help getting that HT working.  Hope to see you
