It looks like you live in Middletown. You should have no trouble
reaching the 147.06 repeater, I've used it with 1/2 watt from
Middletown park. If you are inside of a house, try moving to an east
site window. This repeater uses an offset of +600 kHz and a CTCSS
tone of 123.0 hz. Most of today's radios automatically set the
repeater offset, with the display often indicating with a +. When you
press the push to talk button, most radios display the transmit
frequency, in this case it would be 147.660. The CTCSS tone (often
called PL) is configured differently on just about every radio.
Consult your radio's manual for setting the CTCSS tone.
If all else fails (or even if it works), please join us (the Frederick
Amateur Radio Club) at our regularly scheduled meeting on Monday,
March 17, 2008 at 7:00pm at the Independent Hose Company station, 310
Baughmans Lane, near Rosemont Avenue in Frederick, Maryland.
Thanks & 73 de Joseph Durnal NE3R
