Yep Bob, I try to use the minimum power I can. During the day it doesn't
work too well I guess because of the noise. But at night I have made many
contacts on 5 to 15 watts on 20 meters and I'm amazed at how far you can go
with low power. I guess it's why the QRP people love the mode so much.
Just an FYI for everybody and I'm sure most people in the club know this
already, but a very popular PSK31 band is 14.07015. Contacts here, even DX,
is guaranteed if you're patient enough. 14.23000 is a popular band for Slow
Scan TV. Both bands are best during the evening.
And for Star Trek trivia fans you'll be interested to know this. The
warbling tones PSK31 makes sound exactly like the Star Ship Enterprise's
Transporter. Gene Roddenberry must have been a Ham.
