The following are the proposed minutes from the January meeting. They will
be placed for review and approval at the February 18th meeting.
FREDERICK AMATEUR RADIO CLUB MINUTES
January 21, 2004
The January 21st meeting of the Frederick Amateur Radio Club was called to
order by FARC President, Scott, N3OK. After introductions, Scott asked if
there were any upgrades or new hams in the group and none were reported.
The minutes from the November meeting were approved. The December meeting
was replaced by our annual holiday dinner, which was held at the Golden
Corral Restaurant in Frederick.
Nominating Committee/Elections:
Eric - N8AAY and Doc - KA3KZH provided a slate of officer nominees for
consideration by the membership. The candidates were:
Scott Galbraith, N3OK - President
Jeff Fishman, KB3FIO - Vice President
Eric Gammeter, N8AAY - Treasurer
Jim Gillespie, K3DQ - Secretary
No additional nominees were offered from the floor.
Motion was made by Jackie - WB3KDS and seconded by Doc - KA3KZH that the
nominees provided by the committee be accepted and elected as read. The
motion passed unanimously.
ARES/Races Update
Eric - N8AAY advised that a recent drill and implementation test by
ARES/RACES for support of Frederick Memorial Hospital (FMH) was a success
and that implementation of such support was a key element in FMH's
accreditation process.
Station and Operating Activities
Jeff - KB3FIO reported no problems with the club station setup and also
recommended that club members standardize on use of the Anderson
"PowerPole" style power connectors to insure that interoperability is
achieved for ARES, RACES and club activities.
Bill - N3TCR and Eric - N8AAY reported that 448.425 was reinstalled and is
back up again running low power (10 watts). Coverage still pretty good.
Duplexers, line and antenna are all checked good. Debt of gratitude to Bob
Gardner (UHD) for his assistance in getting this system going again. PL is
presently turned off. Need to get our info updated at TMARC.
Doc - KA3KZH reviewed and demonstrated the club's new Honda 2000 generator.
Very light and easy to move and use, it can be carried easily with one
hand. Very quiet and provides exceptional quality power output. The
generator will be kept secured, without fuel, in the CAP facilities.
Jackie - WB3KDS reminded all members that they need to have their club
membership card with them whenever they are at the CAP facilities.
Obviously security and safety, especially for the cadets, is a concern and
the CAP cadets and personnel have been instructed to verify identity and
right-to-access of any personnel present at their facilities. Members who
presently hold keys to the facility should confirm that fact with Jeff
Fishman - KB3FIO.
The meeting adjourned at 8:45 p.m.
AFTER MEETING NOTES:
Members are reminded that 2004 membership renewals are due - contact Jim -
K3DQ or Eric - N8AAY.
The next meeting will be held Wednesday, February 18, 2004. Jeff - KB3FIO
is working with Eric - N8AAY to provide programs related to satellite,
digital and echolink operations in future meetings.
The Frederick Father's Day Hamfest is scheduled for June 20, 2004, at the
Frederick Fairgrounds and Carolyn - N3VOK is getting things organized.
Contact her to provide assistance.
Respectfully submitted
