I followed up on a suggestion and modified ax25-up to use three sets of ax25 parms:
One for a LAN, one for a Link and one for AXIP. The parms are set in files: LANparms, Linkparms and AXIP parms.

Now when ax25-up gets to the part where it echos the values to  /proc/sys/net/ax25/<device>...
the script checks for the existance of the device's directory and writes the parms to the files.

It's a slight variation on a script I tested last year. In this way we can change the parms for all User, Links or
AXIP ports with one edit. If an occasion arises where one port needs special treatment and requires a "non-standard" parm value. The variation can be added to the ax25 script.

I'm going to test in @ Tampa and see what damage I can do there.
