Bill, N4XEO, just generated a Knoppix type CD of his XEO system and installed in on a different system.
This gives us a new tool. Consider this:
New system to be installed.... We don't know the computer hardware, but we do know how many ports we need and what TNCs will be used. We know the callsigns/ssids involved and the adjacent nodes and routes. Using a development system, We can generate a file system to fit the new node, create a CD and install it in it's new home.
The heavy Linux work has already been done. All we need is a "caretaker" The system can then be tested and refined remotely.
The remote administration process has worked for us over three different installs. But, here is a way to bring up a system that works almost "out of the box". Pre configurations can also be generated and burned to CD to have on hand for emergencies or to restore a damaged system.
