Yes though we are also testing with the alias of TELPAC on the linux
boxen since it allows for both... That way a person in a new area can
just issue a connect to TELPAC and if heard should get a response...

Switches use the following.
CALL-8 = user access to the node
CALL-9 = Level 3 connections and user access to network through switch.
CALL-10 = Telpac call
I have set up on my FPAC switch -14 as the NetRom node call, that is what
the docs say is sort of the standard. So as these things come on line those
that like to use that protocol can go that route. There are some tricks that can
use the X.25 network layer of FPAC to link NetRom nodes, the NetRom users
do not realize anything except that the path is faster...
Flex is also incorporated into the FPAC stuff so we can also bring that on line,
we have not dedicated a SSID to it yet, perhaps take a look at what they have
done over en Europe where FLEX is pretty popular.

To paraphrase my flight instructor;
"the only dumb question is the one you DID NOT ask resulting in my going
out and having to identify your bits and pieces in the midst of torn
and twisted metal."
