The WL2K Telpac list indicates 35 Telpac stations in the FLORIDA GROUP when
sorted by grid square. (There may be more as not all grid squares in
Florida fall in the same contiguous group when sorted by grid square. The
APRS map does not show that many. I suggest we all try to find any call on
the following list that you really doubt STILL has a Telpac on the air and
make contact to confirm. It is likely that (1) folks jumped in 18 months
ago and got on the bandwagon, registered a node, put up a Telpac node -
then lost interest and did not follow up to delete it from the list when
taking it off the air, or (2) have not bothered to install the APRS
reporting feature. Please review this list and if you recognize a call you
doubt really has a node on the air, try to contact that person and ask
him/her to follow up and delete it from the WL2K registration if off the
air, or install the APRS reporting feature.
On a related matter, it will be very beneficial to EMCOMMs for all Telpac
nodes to have an SSID of -10.
The value of having Telpac nodes on lists/maps on the internet is diminished
exponentially by the number of nodes on the list that are no longer there!
