Subject: COUNTY CENTER POWER OUT THIS WEEKEND
FROM: Don Harwig, Facilities Management
All electrical power within the County Center will be turned off beginning
Friday night (1/14) at midnight and will remain off all Saturday (1/15) and
Sunday (1/16). Power will be restored sometime on Monday morning (1/17).
Please note the following important issues that could impact you:
1. All users in the County Center are requested to log off their computers
by 5:00 PM Friday night so that data backups can be performed.
2. There is a possibility that ISDN phones may loose their programming
during the outage. Verizon will have a technician in the County Center on
Tuesday 1/18 to resolve any ISDN issues. Direct such issues to the ITS Help
Desk.
3. All computer systems and network equipment within the County Center will
be powered off during this outage. Access to the County Web site, Internet
access to all computer systems housed within the County Center will not be
available to ALL users, even those at remote sites.
4. The County Center parking facility will be closed throughout this power
outage. All vehicles will need to be removed by 9:00 PM Friday night.
This planned power outage is needed to perform required essential
maintenance on the seven (7) high voltage transformers located throughout
this building. Failure to properly maintain that equipment could result in
irreparable damages to the transformer equipment and unexpected power loss
to entire floors for an extended period of time.

To paraphrase my flight instructor;
"the only dumb question is the one you DID NOT ask resulting in my going
out and having to identify your bits and pieces in the midst of torn
and twisted metal."
