Virgil-

We'll need to know a tad more information before much detailed help can be
provided via e-mail. That said, I get over to Palmetto from time - we might
plan on a visit to help out on my next trip when ever that is. That said,
there is likely someone closer who can help you get the stations back on the
air.

Here are some questions that you can answer:

1. Is there and internet connection at the KE4ZIP radio room?
2. What computer/Operating system is available there?
3. Can that computer/be left ON 24/7?
4. Can the packet station there reach one of the Layered Network switches
in the area?
5. Can you reach the KE4ZIP-1 packet station from KG4FCD-1 once both are up
and running?

I assume you have read the posting on this e-mail reflector I made Monday
RE: Status of ARESCOM/WL2K in Florida.

FYI- we are presently promoting that ARES groups include the ARESCOM/WL2K
E-mail over Ham Radio system for Digital Messaging in Support of EMCOMMs.
This is a departure from packet messaging using small messages through BBS
and keyboarding, etc. While in its infancy, this scheme is being tested and
implemented throughout the country and will likely be the 'wave of the
future' for digital messaging in public service activities. I encourage you
and your club to consider being a part of and supporting this system in your
part of the state.
