Dave- Thanks for the note.

We have been using old (really old) DOS computers for FPAC and if the
computer will work and stay working on the bench for a couple of days, we've
had minimal problems at the remote sites. Worse- we'll likely have an
opportunity to move to some MS Windows OS one of these days as we follow the
'advancing state of the art'! Har.

The DAB switch is a ROSE switch and has caused absolutely no problems at all
in the five years I've been keeping an eye on it. The Orlando and DeLand
switches are FPAC and we've had no problems with computers.

If we want to grow network capability, not just coverage, we really don't
have much choice but to use computers as the refurbishing of the network is
based on FPAC which is computer-based and compatible with ROSE. If someone
can get a LINUX version to run and can set it up so it is plug-'n play for
those of us who don't speak LINUX, that would be the next best step as the
LINUX version has some features to offer as well as can be home-modified by
those who speak LINUX.

The most pressing need at this time is that a computer put into FPAC service
have four working comports. If you have some ISA or PCI comport cards in
the junk box, take them out and put them aside for use. As our network
grows, it wouldn't hurt for the old junk computers to be replaced with new
junk computers that run 300-500 MHz or faster. Many we are using now are
200MHZ or slower! We'll certainly need faster ones with more memory if /
when we move to a Windows OS.

Thanks again for the info and offer.
