[FADCA] NTS/ARES/RACES - Layered Network Growing - Now Let's Use It

For general packet use I recommend WinPack as a good starter package. Like
any program it takes a while to learn how to use it.. It has a lot of
features including being able to autoforward using compression with another
BBS once messages are prepared off line- a good feature for tactical
stations to use with a HUB BBS. The program is free and runs in Windows.

You can download the program at

http://www.btinternet.com/~g4fip/

For general packet use I can't recommend any free shareware program any
higher and many programs you have to purchase will only work with one
MYCALL - so have limited use in an emergency.

Don't forget that about the time you get all your folks well trained using
packet programs that eventually we will likely move to simply using Outlook
Express or some other commonly used e-mail client. That will make the
learning process all but go away as most folks have had experience using
e-mail. The program /system that will be used may be checked out at

http://www.winlink.org/Client.htm

The WL2K system of Ham Radio-to-E-mail will likely be the major system used
for Digital Messaging in Support of EMCOMMs in the future.

Good Luck.
