Stack this up as one of Life's most embarrassing moments and accept my 
apologies for being absolutely in error and for sending everyone out to 
purchase a KAM!

The Gateway I described did in fact require a computer at the remote site 
along with the MSYS BBS program to utilize the non pactor HF modes.

Thanks to W5ZIT's kind reminder that my memory has not served me well.

As my penance I will make no further posts until next year.
