This is pure SEDAN FUD. Indeed we have encouraged keyboard to keyboarding,
that was what the links up to TX and OK were all about we had some real long
winded keyboarding going on back then. The whole idea of using ROSE/FPAC
was to get the monkey of probing through the network to a access point
off of the
users back and on the network where it should be, but at the same time FPAC
brought that ability back in for those who wanted to do it. (ROSE never had a
NODE app in the TNC to connect to, you had to do the connection to the user on
the far end, for the keyboarder who was not interested in node hopping this was
keyboard heaven, but for the node hopper it was no-node hell.) Now Linux will
give us all of them that we want to turn on, and the ability to add others as we
see fit, or even invent, nothing says we do not have to cook up our own, the NR
guys did it, the Flex guys did it, and indeed FPAC is son of ROSE which was
born of COSI which was son of GATORNET which was born right here in FL years
ago, ( I think that was what it was called) anyhow Howie and the RATS guys
started it and Tom Moulton picked it up and carried it on, then the French guys
ported ROSE to DOS and now we have Linux with it's wonderful chameleon
ability to run so many protocols (apple talk anyone?, or say how about IPX??)
The trick is to mix and mingle these things, sort of like making cat
fish stew, for
about 5 hours it is best to leave the house while it cooks but on the
6th hour the
stench changes to a wonderful smell, it is not far from ready when that happens.
There will be a lot of stink and mess, but in the end we can have some real fun
with this stuff and end up with something that all of us can enjoy.

out and having to identify your bits and pieces in the midst of torn
