[FADCA] Low Cost USB Serial ports

Well, that is a good thing -- I use a usb converter for my ham gear (io
networks) ARC780 is a program I use and it explicity states ' this will
not work with serial-usb converters' and yet it works fine.

I dunno what the concerns are -- serial ports are getting harder and
harder to find.. the usb converter offers a lot to us rs232 radio owners.

6 bux is very cheap.

Cheers

Yes, I saw that, but having purchased the same unit at almost $30 back in
July
while down in Ft. Lauderdale, and having used it as a serial port, I am not
sure
what they are getting at. The unit I had came up as port 3 on my X-Pee
machine,
and I think it came up as ttyUSB00 while under Linux.

A co-worker is using it and has had no problems with it so I am not sure
what
they are getting at. I used it to connect a GPS to my laptop in order to get
the
GPS data into a RF coverage tool I use in my coverage study work.

At $6 each I am still going to order one and give it a try again and try to
see
what they are getting at.
