For those of you not very familiar with APRS these canteens can be tracked
over the web as well as via RF on 144.39 if you are in range and have a APRS
client.
For web tracking type in the following URL and of course change the callsign
for the station you are interested in locating.

Apparently they are using UI-View for tracking due to the thanks to Roger.
On another note for those not aware Roger the author of UI-View the most
repected APRS client in use all over the world is not doing well. Roger was
sent home from the hospital a week or so ago and a few close friends across
the world are pitching in to take care of registrations. At Rogers request
UI-View registrations now are issued for donations made to any cancer
research program in your part of the world. If anyone is interested please
contact me and I will point you in the right direction. Not too much
information has been given out but it appears that this was/will be Rogers
last request.

Salvation Army communication kits including D-700s and Garmin GPS-18's are
deployed to the Tampa region. They are registered under W5MEL-1 thru -10.
Huge thanks to Roger Barker and KF6WAX for "jumping" when asked to provide
registration to Alton Gardner/KD5KVQ who is at the Salvation Army HQ in
Tampa. He will track his Humanitarian relief effort (canteen ops) with this
software. Alton has worked issues for the WTC, Pentagon and Post war Iraq
for the World Health Organization so they are in most capable hands.
Feedback on these communications kits is greatly appreciated from anyone as
we wish to continually improve this system.
Be on the lookout for the ARRL home page to reflect our operation on how we
got to the deployment stage of this effort. Article in QST will be sent
after the entire relief effort is completed.
