I have run his code, but it seems so unstable that I just gave up on
it except for
some testing. It also will not allow you to run IP via connected mode, and on a
not so hot link letting the link layer recover rather than the TCP or
if UDP, the
application recover, is a lot faster and gets rid of high level stuff
that the level
2 stuff can handle. I guess they have very good packet networks in Greece, but
ours are not so good. When I asked him about doing IP over connected mode
his reply was rather off the shoulder, and I was made to understand in
no uncertain
terms that I did NOT need connected mode to do IP. Kind of the same
attitude that
we got when we asked the FlexNet boys to look at using addresses rather than
callsigns for routing, of course you could not get it through their
thick german heads
(do not worry, there is a LOT of german in my family so I know what I am talking
about) that addressing based on numerical addresses rather than call signs made
the networking tables a lot simpler.
Be nice if someone could take the AX.25 stack in Linux and port it
over to windows
and then we would not have to worry about George's code.
I do not mind paying for it but when I am shelling out $50 I want it
to work, I have
stuff that I pay a lot less for that is much more stable than that. I
have used it at
work to test (paid for it too) so I know how reliable it is.
By way Charlie there should be a PacComm selection in the TNC selector, if not
just use the TNC-2 selection, that should work for the TINY,
Sprint/Spirit boxes.
I had a similar problem to you, I would make the selections and it
would drop it all
on the floor, ended up having to re-install it a couple of times
before it started working.
Ohh, and I also kept getting BSOD's on my ExPee machine, so that was the kiss of
death for George's code.
