Bill:
Here is what I am using in my XP computer- with this card I now have six
comports available.

http://www.siig.com/product.asp?pid=190

SIIG also makes a four-port ISA card. I'm using one of those in a DOS
computer getting ready for a five-port FPAC switch. So far I can get all
four ports working if I disable the single on-mother board serial port.
With the on-board serial port enabled, I can get any three of the SIIG ports
to work with it. I'm still trying to unlock the key to that problem, but it
may be than none of my DOS-based comport testing programs will work with
more than four ports! My next thing to try is to go ahead and install the
FPAC software as I assume it will find any comport that will work. That may
be the only way I can test!

We have had good luck with Keyspan USB Serial adapters on our Windows
98,ME,2000,XP laptops. These come with software drivers. There were more
problems with earlier versions of the adapters, but the latest seem to be
okay. (I'm still fiddling with the Win2000 laptop on this issue.) I don't
know if a machine with USB ports will work with DOS.

This is the lastest one I have http://www.keyspan.com/products/usb/USA19HS/
