Last week I added a old two port Serial board to the "box". As soon as I
configured it into the FPAC system it's
companion port stopped working. By companion port I mean the port that
shares the IRQ. The ports work w/ Buxterm,
but that uses only one port at a time. A second card yealded the same
results. Since these cards are OLDes there is no way to
move the IRQ to anything other than 4 or 3. So... how do we deal with
ports that have to share IRQs?
Moving right along I grabbed up a modern PCI card w/ two ports. It
configures itself, with a DOS utility, to FCE0h/ FCE8h IRQ 9.
You would n't believe what happen when you try to use those adddresses!
FPAC starts up normally & everthing is cool - til
you try to use the port. The screen goes black & it's down hill from there.
I guess I should stick to the beaten path but, at my house it's just the
way things go. :-\
