>From Gary KC5QCN:

"Two of the three TPALAN FPAC switches are now back on the air. KM0SI-9
(813987) using 145.670 MHz and KC5QCN-9 (813224) using 144.910 MHz are up
and running. They just do not connect to anywhere... <grin>"

Gary indicated there should be backbone connectivity to Sarasota before the
Tampa Hamfest in December!

Dan KA0OXH hopes to have the test digipeater (145.07) at Clermont by
Thanksgiving. Go, Dan!

These two news items portend a cross-state link from Tampa to Clermont to
Orlando or Deland by Easter!

The 220 MHz digi between Orlando FPAC (at my house, Awwww) and the #COA X1-J
node at Cocoa has proved to be helpful in keeping the link to Melbourne open
(after crossover to 2M) much of the day. Through the day yesterday I could
link to N4XEO BBS in Ft. Pierce at will - most of the time. The feeling I
had was that any trouble experienced was south of Vero, but there were a
couple of times the 220 link from Orlando to #COA was not responsive.

The W. Palm Beach Boys may be making an inspection trip up I-95 Friday to
check things out from Vero.

The 220 port at Melbourne still cannot be decoded by any device on the WAN.
Eric and I will be working on that this Friday as well.

This morning, while still dark when conditions were obviously better, I
forwarded a 10K file from the DeLand LAN to N4XEO in Fort Pierce in 4
minutes 45 seconds. That's not bad for all the gyrations needed in the
path, to make the link! I forwarded the same file from the DeLand LAN to
the Jacksonville BBS in 3 minutes and 16 seconds, again with gyrations in
the path. If I had to guess (and hope), once we get all those backbones
working properly (and moved to UHF 9.6kb), those times would be cut nearly
in half! Does that mean a 10K file could be moved from Jacksonville to
Miami in less than 5 minutes? (I'd hope so... but we'll have to see.)

The network is starting to function again - slowly, but with positive
results.

Remember the Tampa Hamfest the first weekend in December. We'll have a
FADCA table/display there and will need some help keeping it adequately
manned. We'll also have a FADCA forum and a BOD meeting.

And. . . what have you done lately to enhance the network?
