[FADCA] Remote Access & new Switch calls

Some time ago I started updating the south Fl network. I ran into two
switches that would not allow remote dos operations - Lake Placid and
Melbourne. Yesterday Doug, wb4kgy, his xyl - Julie, and I made a trip
around lake Okeechobee with one stop being at Lake Placid to look at
this problem. As luck would have it there is a solution, the downside is
you have to go to the switch to effect it. It turns out that the
c:\fpac\temp directory is missing. So if someone has access to the
Melbourne switch could they create the temp directory? Again, they have
to go to the switch, shut it down and then create the directories under
the fpac dir. I can provide the updated files if there is enough advance
notice of a site visit. Otherwise I should be able to upload them from
here once the temp directory is created.
Actually there are four dir. needed:
c:\fpac\temp
c:\fpac\new
c:\fpac\backup
c:\fpac\original

When we installed the new files in lake placid the new call - KK4LI-9/8
- was installed.. The path to Brownsveille/Arcadia will not work with
auto routing until Doug, kn4yt, gets these switches reconfigured. You
can get to Arcadia by connecting to Lake Placid (863465) and then
connecting to Arcadia by using :
c 2:w4min-1 - this should connect you to the w4min bbs.

The next stop was at Okeechobee which has been non communicating for
several days. We found the radios on the power up frequencies - Bill,
n4xeo, had indicated in a previous email that the radios needed
batteries. We took one radio apart and removed the battery so we can
procure replacements.
We left the radios on the proper frequencies, but on the first power
glitch the 440 radio will go away, possibly the 223 radio also..
Hopefully we can get back and replace the radio batteries soon.
We installed the new files in Oke - the new call for Oke is K4OKE-9/8.
We then remotely transferred the previously loaded files in Stuart and
rebooted. This put the network back in operation up to Lake Placid with
further west operation by node connections...

This trip started with stops in Lake Harbor and LaBelle. Lake Harbor was
a quick stop to check the batteries after an earlier power outage had
run them down - they seemed ok.

In LaBelle we investigated a possible site for a digi - this looks
promising. If possible, we will install a digi before Doug and I leave
for Dayton. This should complete the path between the east and west
coasts of south Florida. In the future we hope to replace the digi with
a FPAC switch..
