[FADCA] Bridging The Gap - Update

Last week I was working in another building so I couldn't go to the =
site. I got another ham here at Intersil to reset the switch. On =
Friday afternoon on my way home I went back over there to reset it =
again. There was nothing wrong with it. I also saw the other ham and he =
also said the screen looked fine but he reset it anyway. The bottom =
line is it looks like there is another failure mode. I don't know when =
I will be able to go there and spend some time to troubleshoot it. I =
was told to get rid of the packet rig in my office so I can't check it =
from here.

As far as finding another site, I don't know of any other site in =
Melbourne that will give greater height and more accessibility.

Not likely, but not out of the question. That is one of the oldest =
nodes in
the state sponsored by Ray N1LEM. It is on 223.420 and 145.09. I =
believe
he has someone else actually managing it, so maybe Ray could be talked =
into
it. We mentioned that to him in passing at the Melbourne Hamfest in =
2001.

At this time #COA hears so little on 223.420 that it really only has =
some
value to the ROSE/FPAC network. Of course its value would quadruple if =
it
were an FPAC.

No doubt it would be of much more value to all if it could be turned =
into an
FPAC with two UHF ports and a LAN (145.09). One uhf port would go to
Orlando the other to Vero (which I assume it could make 24/7). This =
would
give Brevard County total coverage (along with Melbourne W4MLB)

The other solution to the Big Gap problem is to move the Melbourne =
switch to
a location which we can get if the PCARS switch sponsor will permit.
