Hi- I'm bud Thompson, N0IA, Director of the Florida Amateur Digital
Communications Assn. (FADCA) District Five. That includes Lake, Orange,
Osceola, Seminole, Sumter, and Volusia counties.

I need your help to clean up the FADCA list of digital devices below. There
are many on the list in District Five that I know are no longer active, and
there may be some we need to add to the list. The more accurate the list,
the greater help it is to newcomers who want to play packet!

The Layered Packet Network (FPAC/ROSE) has not only arisen from the ashes
like the Phoenix of the desert, but it is alive, well, and growing
throughout the state! Connectivity nearly on a 24/7 basis is now available
all along the East Coast from Hollywood to JAX. Full-time connectivity will
be assured once the Orlando FPAC is moved to the new location (2x the
height!) The new Orlando FPAC site also leads to a Central Florida
cross-state link through a single site between Orlando and Tampa. (Any
takers?) Cross-state links from West Palm beach to Ft. Myers move traffic
between the coasts. Switches are being constructed in Tallahassee and
eastward to tie the northern part of the state to JAX. With the addition of
the DeLand FPAC in a choice HUB location, it will be a cinch to work into
Lake County and westward once someone there wants to set up an FPAC switch!
Help for new devices or resurrecting your old ones is as close as asking!

There is a renewed interest in digital modes in general, and specifically for
support of emergency communications throughout the state. The Layered
Packet Network is integrated with HF ARQ modes to provide long haul links
within and outisde the state.

I am asking you to spend five minutes or less to help by:

1. Checking the list below for any devices for which you are shown to have
responsibility.
2. Send me an e-mail with any changes (change call, responsible party,
frequencies, device, delete listing, etc.)
3. If you know of any other devices on the list that are absolutely not
operating please let me know.
4. If you know of any devices in your area that should be on the list,
please provide me a reference to the operator/owner/sponsor.

If your TNC has been collecting dust, how about dusting it off and getting
something going again?

If you have lost interest or don't have time, and would like to get rid of
your TNC or other digital gear, let me know. Perhaps I can act as a hub for
used gear so others may become active.

Your help is appreciated.
