Flexnet IS NOT the only growing packet network in the USA. In Florida we
have been using the ROSE system for years (as many old timers know) and
several years ago we have started to switch over to FPAC which is computer
controlled rose. The system works great and we are adding NEW sites and
converting old ROSE sites over all the time.

Packet is GROWING in Florida. If you think about it, to set up a network
that works with a TRUE backbone in this state you are going to have to
cover almost 500 miles down the coast. This network alone can be bigger
than several states combined.

I'll just leave this note here and if you would like any more info on what
we are doing, just ask!!

I agree with the above. The people that went over to full time aprs really
weren't all that active on packet. The biggest thing that hurt packet was
the INTERNET but now that the internet is old hat for most, I'm seeing
people dusting off their tnc's and getting back on the air and NEW hams
that are doing it for the first time.
People have to remember that there is a LOT more to packet than just
connecting to the local bbs!!!!

You can use the links in my sig below for more info on FADCA and FPAC!
